2012 Chapter Leadership

Maurine Kwende Maurine Kwende, President, is the Training & Research Consultant for the Florida Department of Health.   Prior to joining the Department of Health, she worked as a Quality Assurance Trainer & IT Liaison with the Collins Center for Public Policy. Maurine received her Professional in Human Resource (PHR) certification in 2011 from the Human Resources Certification Institute. Maurine has been an active member of ASTD Tallahassee Chapter since 2010 and served as VP Communications in 2010 & 2011. She is a member of the Big Bend SHRM.

Maurine holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Linguistics, and earned her CTP Certification in 2008 from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in the United Kingdom. Maurine is keen on Workplace Learning & Performance, and Organizational Development. Maurine enjoys travelling, cooking, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

Kevin KjellerupKevin Kjellerup, Vice President of Programs, is a Curriculum Developer for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Staff Development and Training.  He has been involved in education and training both in the military and civilian sectors for over 15 years.  As an associate with the Deming Collaboration, Kevin seeks knowledge-informed continual process improvement in every endeavor.  In addition to volunteering as a student mentor with Junior Achievement, he also supports the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurialism at Florida State University’s College of Business through mentoring students in the entrepreneur incubator.  Currently Kevin serves on the Board for Florida ASCD and is a member of ASQ nationally and through a local chapter.  Kevin holds an M.Ed in teaching and instruction.  For enjoyment, Kevin likes to play tennis, fish (fly) and he spends time with his wife Jennifer and daughter Cate in Tallahassee. 

Rhonda Register, Vice President of MembershipRhonda Register, Vice President of Membership is a Tallahassee native and a graduate of James S Rickards High School.    She has served Capital City Bank for 38 years and currently holds the position as a Career Banker and Vice- President/Co-Director of Star University.  In addition to her daily responsibilities, she has served as President, Secretary, Fundraising Committee Member and Program Committee Member for the Silver Dome Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.  She is married. and enjoys spending time with her two adult children.

Amanda FalveyAmanda Falvey, Vice President of Communications, graduated from FSU in August 2010 with a B.S. in Marketing and a Minor in Communications.  During her time there, she held an executive position on the FSU- Women in Business Board, as VP of Advertising.  For two consecutive years, she played a key role in developing and plannning the annual Women in Business conference.  Amanda has been in the communication and sales discipline for over 2 years now; completing three marketing internships, and working professionally in the technology staffing industry.  It is her long-term goal to focus her career towards employee training & development, and/or company process improvement.  Amanda is very excited to be on the ASTD- Tallahassee board, and looks forward to meeting all of the members!

Dr. Anchalee NgampornchaiDr. Anchalee Ngampornchai ,Vice President of Finance, 

is a Research and Training Specialist at Florida’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. She has been involved in several e-learning projects, either as project manager or the designer. She is keen on assessing needs, selecting media, and applying learning theories to ensure effectiveness of training and performance improvement. Anchalee has also been an intercultural communication researcher and trainer. She holds an MA and a PhD in Communication, and an MS degree in Instructional Design. Anchalee enjoys yoga, reading, and watching news/documentaries.

  

Dr. Melissa Mackal, Vice President of TechnologyDr. Melissa Mackal, Vice President of Technology, 

is both owner and Sr. Instructional Designer of eLearning Advancements, LLC.  eLearning Advancements' (EA) primary objective is to deliver quality instruction founded on empirically-supported learning and design principles which are tailored to produce improved performance. Since establishing EA, Dr. Mackal has served with several locally- and nationally-recognized institutions, designing training and instruction using a variety of eLearning applications: virtual classrooms, web-based training, games and virtual worlds, as well as blended formats. When she is not designing instruction, she is happily tending to her family and home.

Dale Weeks, Director-At-Large

Dale Weeks, Director-At-Large,  is President of Global Leadership and Benchmarking Associates (GLBA), a consulting firm focused on delivering performance excellence and global benchmarking management services to both the public and private sectors.  From 2000-2011,Dale was Senior Executive Officer and Deputy Executive Director for the Florida Department of Revenue.  His primary role was serving as the agency's chief business process and benchmarking leadership officer, with an oversight responsibility for integrating all programs, within the context of the internationally proven Baldrige Business Performance Excellence management framework. 

Dale is also a major speaker at National /International Conference events on the topics of Performance Management, Performance Based Budgeting, Global Benchmarking, Strategic Business Process Management, Human Asset Performance, and Leadership Development. 

Dr. E ShenDr. E Shen, Director-At-Large,  is currently working as Learning & Development Manger at Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle. With 10+ years of experience in training and development as a manager, consultant and researcher, E Shen is dedicated to drive organizational sustainability and continued growth while creating a learning culture through superior instructional design, technology innovation, and program delivery. E holds Ph.D. in Instructional System Design (ISD) and MS in Computer Science from Florida State University. 
Dr. Suzanne EbbersDr. Suzanne Ebbers, Past President,  is President/CEO of LuminEssence Change by Design, an award-winning performance improvement and instructional design company. Her work is deeply rooted in psychology, education, communication and business. She has specific expertise in all aspects of health and behavior change, especially health disparities, Prevention, PTSD, and obesity. Dr. Ebbers is one of a handful of experts on using avatars for social learning. She is married with four children and a daughter-in-law. She does Tai Chi, gardens, cooks gourmet, and trend-watches politics and technology
